Use it with your AI agent
keychord ships an agent skill: skills/keychord/SKILL.md. With it installed, you can ask your
coding agent “make me a chord for my address” or “import my Espanso snippets”, and it uses
the keychord CLI to do it safely: it appends without touching your lines, checks the config
after every change, and never writes a secret value into the file.
Install the skill
Section titled “Install the skill”Get the skills/keychord folder from the keychord repository (or the release, if it’s
included there), then copy it into your agent’s skills folder:
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && cp -R skills/keychord ~/.claude/skills/Start a new Claude Code session; the skill loads when you ask about chords or snippets.
mkdir -p ~/.codex/skills && cp -R skills/keychord ~/.codex/skills/Start a new Codex session.
The agent needs the keychord command on its PATH. Check with keychord check --json in the
same terminal.
What to ask
Section titled “What to ask”- “Add a chord
sigwith my name and today’s date, formatted.” - “Make a login chord for the staging site; the password should come from the vault.”
